    Mark Rieb, DVM

    Veterinarian
Hi, my name is Mark Rieb.  I have been practicing veterinary medicine since I graduated from Kansas State University in 1982.  For ten years I was involved in treating both livestock and pets.  The longer I was in the profession I became more interested in small animal medicine -- dogs, cats, all pets.  In 1992, my wife and I decided to start Care Small Animal Hospital to help care for the pets of this area.  Care was the first all pet hospital in Watertown.

My family has always been pet owners including dogs, cats, horses, guinea pigs, fish -- most of whom have been rescue cases.  Currently, my wife and I have a Sheltie cross named 'Lacey,' 2 Labradors named 'Scooby' and 'Maddie' and a Sheltie named 'Dolly.'

I am a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association, South Dakota Veterinary Medical Association, American Animal Hospital Association, and veterinary representative to the Animal Control Board for Watertown.

I grew up on a farm about 25 miles from Sioux Falls, SD.  We milked dairy cows, raised sheep and had one dog and many, many cats.  After finishing high school, I attended the University of Sioux Falls and majored in biology and chemistry.  I obtained my DVM at Iowa State University in Ames, IA.  After spending a year practicing in Iowa while my husband finished his degree, we moved to central Minnesota and I worked in a mixed animal practice for several years.  After my two boys were born, I began practicing part time and doing relief work.  The last several years I have been concentrating on companion animal medicine.  Which brings me to practice with Dr. Rieb.  I am very excited to join Dr. Rieb and his excellent support staff.  Currently I see appointments on Wednesday afternoons and Thursdays and I look forward to meeting the new and existing clients at Care Small Animal Hospital.

    Management
Just a little bit about myself...  I grew up in Lake Preston, SD where I helped out on my parents' dairy farm (Unless you ask my older siblings.  They would say that I didn't have to help out much because I am the 'baby' of the family)

I attended Dakota State University in Madison, SD where I received an associate degree in Business Management.   I spent a few years in the hotel industry, and now have been a part of the Care Small Animal Hospital team since July 1997.  My job as the Practice Manager keeps me busy all of the time.

Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with my husband, family and friends.  I also enjoy baking (come in at Christmas time and you can sample some of my baked goods and candies.)  You can almost always count on me watching about every NASCAR race on TV, and I also enjoy many other sports including football, TWINS baseball and playing golf.

I grew up in Wahpeton, ND, the oldest of 3 kids.  After high school, I attended NDSCS in Wahpeton for 2 years, and then North Dakota State University in Fargo, where I received a Bachelor of Science degree in veterinary technology in 2001.  I started at Care Small Animal Hospital in October 2001.

My husband, Scott, and I got married in September of 2004, and we were blessed with our daughter, Rachel, in June of 2009.

In my spare time, I enjoy spending time with my family and pets, gardening, reading, playing card and board games and cross stitch.

I was born and raised in Watertown, SD.  I am the youngest in my family, 1 brother and 1 sister.   I graduated from Globe University in Sioux Falls, SD, where I received my associates degree in Veterinary Technology.  I recently joined the team at Care Small Animal Hospital in June of 2015.

My fiance, Ryan and I are getting married in June 2016.  We have a beautiful daughter, Rylie Ann, who is 4 years old and definitely keeps us busy.  We also have a Siberian Husky, Skye.  She is now 4 years old.

In our spare time we like to go fishing, hang out at the lake and also ice fishing.  I enjoy doing DIY projects from Pinterest, reading and playing softball in the summer.  Watching NFL is also a great time to get family and friends together and relax, GO BRONCOS!  I love traveling to new places and seeing the world in all different perspectives.
